Towed Vehicles

If you suspect that your vehicle has been towed*, you can check using the search tool below by entering the license plate number, location, or date.

*The Józsefváros Municipal Enforcement may remove any vehicle that is parked illegally on public areas in Budapest’s 8th District and poses a risk to road traffic safety or public safety (e.g., obstructing traffic or creating a hazard), as well as vehicles parked in violation of the traffic rules listed in Section 59 (1) of KRESZ (Hungarian Highway Code), or wheel-clamped vehicles after 48 hours have passed since the clamp was applied.

On public areas owned by the Budapest 8th district Municipality of Józsefváros, vehicles stored without a public space usage permit, without official markings, or that are inoperative may be removed by the public space supervisor at their own discretion, 10 days after a notice has been placed on the vehicle, except for main roads, where removal is authorised by the Municipality of Budapest Law Enforcement Directorate.

Administration

• Vehicles are towed to the site at Gyömrői út 115, Budapest,10th district.
• Here you can retrieve them after having paid the transportation and safekeeping fees.
• The release of towed vehicles can only be carried out in person by the vehicle owner or their authorised representative.

If you do not collect your vehicle, the Public Space Supervision may sell or otherwise dispose of it in accordance with the relevant legal regulations. In such cases, the portion of the proceeds from the sale remaining after deducting costs is payable to the vehicle owner or keeper.

Fees

*Fee in the event of a failed tow, when the vehicle owner arrives at the site, but preparations for the removal have already begun.
